Family sessions, gently held.
Young families, multi-generation reunions on holiday, and the everyday closeness that a trip brings out. Warm, documentary-led photography that feels like your family on a good day. Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Cancún and the wider Riviera Maya.

Family sessions are some of the warmest work I do. Most of mine happen while a family is on holiday in the Riviera Maya - parents and children, sometimes three generations together, all in one place for a rare week. That is exactly the moment worth photographing: not a stiff studio portrait, but your people relaxed, sun on their skin, genuinely enjoying each other. My approach is documentary first and gently guided second, so the gallery feels like the trip actually felt rather than a set of poses.
How a family session runs. We start by choosing a place and a time that suits the group. With small children we shoot around naps and snacks; with older families we chase the golden hour at the end of the day, when the beach empties and the light goes soft and pink. I begin loose - letting everyone settle, photographing the in-between moments - and bring in a few guided portraits once people have forgotten the camera. The whole thing is paced like a relaxed walk, not a schedule, which is why even camera-shy relatives end up enjoying it.
Where families shoot here. The beach at golden hour is the obvious choice and the one most families want, but the Riviera Maya gives you more range than that. The jungle and cenote edges read lush and private; your villa or hotel grounds work beautifully for multi-generation groups who would rather not travel far; and a rooftop or garden in Playa del Carmen keeps logistics simple. I photograph families across Tulum, Playa, Cancún, Cozumel and the wider Riviera Maya, and I travel further afield through worldwide sessions.
What you receive. After the session I deliver a private preview gallery within days, then the full high-resolution edited collection within two to three weeks, all in my warm, film-inspired style. Prints, a fine-art album and an optional short film are available - many families order a small album as the keepsake from the trip.
If your family is coming to the Riviera Maya and you want photographs that feel like your people on a good day, tell me when you are visiting, who is in the group and where you are staying. I will suggest a location and a time of day around the light, and keep the session as easy and unhurried as a family holiday should be. You might also like friends sessions for the wider group, bachelorette celebrations for a pre-wedding trip, or special celebrations for a birthday or milestone.
What to expect
Plan around the group
We pick a place and a time that works for everyone - naps if there are little ones, sunset if there are not, and the soft light your gallery deserves. Beach, jungle, your rental or hotel; I help you choose.
Relaxed and playful
A mix of guided portraits and caught-in-the-moment frames. I keep it patient with kids and easy for the grandparents, so most people forget the camera is there within a few minutes.

Frequently asked
Will you photograph a big multi-generation group?
Yes - including large group portraits of ten or more people at golden hour. I shoot a mix of the whole group together and smaller breakaway moments: grandparents with the grandchildren, the siblings, the couples within the family.
What about young children?
I keep it playful and patient. Most kids forget the camera is there within five minutes - I follow their pace rather than fighting it, so the gallery is full of real expressions, not held smiles.
Where should we shoot?
The beach at golden hour is the classic on the Riviera Maya, but I also shoot in the jungle, at your villa or hotel, or wherever the light is right. Tell me where you are staying and I will suggest the best nearby spot and time.
Do you offer photo and video?
Yes - on request, with a small team for larger gatherings. Most families book photo alone, but a short film of the trip is a lovely addition.
Timeless · Cinematic
Two distinct visual languages - choose the one that feels like the memory you want to keep.

Timeless
Elegant. Clean. Naturally lit. Lightly editorial. Polished storytelling with classic emotional imagery - the photographs you’ll print and frame.

Cinematic
Film-inspired. Immersive. Grain, movement, dramatic light. Imperfect moments and atmospheric framing - memories that feel like a film.
